Summary
South Central Child Development, Inc. (SCCD) provides Head Start preschool and family services within 16 counties in South Central South Dakota since 1986. SCCD is seeking a highly motivated individual to work with the Fiscal/HR Administrator on business affairs of the agency in accordance with the performance standards set by the Office of Head Start, Code of Federal Regulations set by the Office of Management and Budget and the policies of SCCD.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Complete background checks on employees
- Maintain personnel records for agency and partner site employees and reports data to the Fiscal/HR Administrator and Executive Director
- Responsible for data entering employment information into various agency programs and to complete required state reporting
- Partners with Training and Technical Assistance Coordinator to monitor compliance with all Head Start employment requirements, ongoing trainings and/or individualized training plan
- Responsible for reporting employee enrollments into agency insurance and benefit plans
- Reviews agency timesheets for all employees and forwards approved timesheets to the Fiscal/HR Administrator for payroll processing
- Maintains data related to the agency's Incentive Pay programs
- Creates and executes purchase orders for sites and maintains accurate inventory records by location
- Responsible for transportation recordkeeping (gas and repair receipts, mileage) on agency vehicles
- Matches receipts to incoming invoices and statements
- Reviews, counts and records In-Kind paperwork to apply towards the agency's non-federal match
- Assists in filing workers compensation claims and for maintaining all records related to the claims
- Secures travel accommodations
- Compares and reconciles meal reports with system data for accuracy and forwards reports to the Fiscal/HR Administrator to file the monthly CACFP claim.
- Reviews and files completed purchase orders, vouchers, journal entries and cash receipts
- Prepares reports as requested by the Fiscal/HR Administrator and/or Executive Director
- Other duties as assigned by the Fiscal/HR Administrator and/or Executive Director
Other Information
This position is located in Yankton, SD and works Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm with pay starting at $21.05/hr. depending on education and experience Remote work is not available.
Reports To: Fiscal/HR Administrator
Also Works With: Executive Director, the agency's leadership team and the program secretary
Qualifications and Skills
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be willing to travel to the Wagner, SD office up to 3 times per month
- Must be able to maintain confidential information
- Must work with a variety of people in a professional and courteous manner
- Must be knowledgeable of office software applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.)
- Must be organized, accurate and efficient
- Must be able to work independently with limited direction
- Must be able to work cooperatively with the team, agency leadership and administrative personnel.
- Must communicate effectively, both verbal and written
- Must document and report suspected child abuse and neglect by following the program's reporting procedures
- Must successfully complete all required background screenings, including State and FBI fingerprinting, sex offender registry and reports of abuse and neglect, and an employment physical
Preferred:
- AA or higher degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources or related field
- Previous bookkeeping, payroll and/or HR experience
- 1 years of experience in business operations and/or clerical experience
