What are the responsibilities and job description for the Art Teacher position at South County Art Association?
South County Art Association is a non-profit arts organization passionate about art in its many forms. We offer over 100 classes annually for all levels, from beginner to advanced.
We are looking for art teachers in pottery, painting, drawing, mixed media, photography and printmaking to teach adults aged 16 and older. Our classes are small, typically 3-10 people, and run during the daytime and evenings, including weekends. We give teachers flexibility with their subject matter and curriculum to design workshops and/or 5-8 week classes. If you have a special craft or art medium that you want to teach, we're open to all class ideas.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Extensive knowledge of one or multiple mediums of art and their techniques.
- Willingness to engage students in the creative process, deepening their understanding of the arts and cultivating their unique talents.
- Ability to design curriculums that incorporate demonstrations and exercises that will accommodate both beginner and advanced students within each class.
- Demonstrate relevant skills being taught in lessons.
- Effective communication and collaboration with students and staff.
- Regularly evaluate students’ work and provide individualized constructive feedback.
- Previous teaching experience is required.
