South County Fire in Everett, WA is currently recruiting for a Systems Administrator.

Summary: This position assists the Information Technology Manager with ensuring the effective operation and maintenance of the South County Fire computer and telecommunication systems including hardware and software. The position is key to maintaining systems availability and security. This position receives direction from the Information Technology Manager. The work is performed with considerable independence and is reviewed through meetings, periodic status reports and results obtained. Performance is evaluated by assigned supervisor through review of reports, briefings, and program effectiveness, degree of harmony with employees and observation of daily activities.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Aids in the overall operation of the information technology function of South County Fire.
- Maintain and troubleshoot IP based fire station alerting system
- Utilizes backup and recovery software to maintain robust onsite and offsite data backups
- Works with third-party vendors to support different IT products and services
- Provides customer service in support of systems, hardware, and software via tickets, text messages, email, and phone
- Responds to alerts generated by monitoring tools for hardware, software, and other services; adjusts monitoring on an ongoing basis to identify new alerts
- Plans, designs, and implements server and systems projects
- Research and reviews systems capabilities and limitations, makes recommendations, and implements or plans and coordinates the implementation of solutions
- Identifies problems related to systems including desktops, servers, switches, and firewalls and troubleshoots or escalates accordingly
- Applies software application upgrades on a regular basis to hardware and software, including operating system updates
- Reviews and tests new hardware and software applications or services for potential use
- Assists the Information Technology Manager with issues dealing with systems and server support
- Maintains the overall effective operation and security of systems servers, host systems, and associated communications hardware and software
- Performs other duties as required or assigned
Knowledge Of:
- Operation and configuration of a variety of computer hardware, software, and related data communication systems
- Practices, methods and procedures of computer server hardware and software installation, maintenance, and repair
- Current developments in Information Technology
- Microsoft Windows server/client environment
- Computer and networking theory, design, and application
- Data and voice communication concepts, methods, and security issues
- Cost/benefit analysis techniques and application of IT
- ITIL processes and methodology is desired
- Standard office procedures
Skills and Ability To:
- Develop, install, maintain, and repair effective information and telecommunication systems
- Communicate effectively in oral and written form
- Interact professionally with various levels of employees, officials, and customers
- Prepare complete reports, business correspondence, and procedures
- Maintain absolute confidentiality of all sensitive files and materials accessed, discussed, or observed while in performing the position duties
- Use independent judgement and initiative in developing solutions to problems
- Works effectively under pressure and with frequent interruptions
- Experience supporting Microsoft products such as Office 365, Teams, Active Directory
- Experience managing VMware vCenter and ESXI
- Experience in configuring and troubleshooting networking technologies such as VPN, VLANs, and SDWAN is desirable
- Experience with managing Apple products hands on and via MDM is desirable
- Experience with Fortinet Firewalls and wireless hardware is desirable
- Experience with the support and maintenance of enterprise-grade production systems is desirable
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in information systems/technology or related field
- Four (4) years of experience with IT systems infrastructure or related experience
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Windows and the full suite of Microsoft applications
- Advanced proficiency in Office 365 administration including Teams and SharePoint
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience that will provide the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the essential functions of the job
Licenses, Certifications & Other Requirements:
- Valid Washington State driver’s license upon hire date
Working Conditions: While a large percentage of time is spent in an office setting, the employee may drive to stations and other local areas to pick-up/deliver supplies. The employee may be required to work occasional evenings and weekends as necessary. The employee may be required to share responsibility of onsite presence during Tuesday night board meetings. The employee must be able to effectively operate computers, related software, printers, calculator, fax machine, postage machine, multi-line telephone system, and copiers.
