Key responsibilities of a medical billing and coding instructor:
- Curriculum development: Design and deliver a comprehensive medical billing and coding curriculum that aligns with industry standards and current regulations.
- Classroom instruction:Teach students the proper use of coding systems (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS), including coding guidelines, modifiers, and coding rules.
- Practical application:Provide hands-on training through simulated scenarios, case studies, and practice exercises to prepare students for real-world billing situations.
- Claim submission and denial management:Teach students how to accurately submit electronic claims, identify potential billing errors, and address claim denials through appeals processes.
- Compliance training: Educate students on HIPAA regulations, coding compliance issues, and ethical practices in medical billing.
