South Dakota State University (SDSU) is seeking an enthusiastic and driven Assistant Director of Development to join our Intercollegiate Athletics Department. In this role, you will play a crucial part in building and enhancing meaningful relationships with our valued donors through strategic stewardship and engaging events. This position is located in Brookings, South Dakota. This position is a 12-month, full-time, benefits-eligible position.
South Dakota State University is an NCAA Division I institution located in Brookings, South Dakota. SDSU competes in The Summit League for all sports except football (Missouri Valley Football Conference), wrestling (Big 12), and equestrian (National Collegiate Equestrian Association).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Assistant Director of Development will be responsible for managing, developing, and implementing a unique and proactive comprehensive donor relations program. This position will serve to better connect SDSU Athletics donors who are making financial contributions to the department and to strengthen their relationship on all levels. The position will work with the Athletics Development staff to determine best strategies for effective stewardship and implement related recognition events and activities. The Assistant Director of Development will have oversight of all Athletics Hospitality events, special events (Hall of Fame Banquet, Endowment Dinner, Summit League Tournament Rallies, golf outings, sport specific reunions), the Jackrabbit Athletics Scholarship Auction, and benefit fulfillment for Jackrabbit Club annual fund membership.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Earned Bachelor’s degree by application date;
- At least one year of special events, fundraising or closely related experience;
- Demonstrated time management and organization skills;
- General knowledge and understanding of fundraising/development practices;
- Experience with donor relations and cultivations;
- Knowledge of fundraising softwares;
- Self directed and motivated; and
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Understanding of athletics in fundraising setting; and
- Experience overseeing hospitality/special events.
