What are the responsibilities and job description for the SANITATION UTILITY TECHNICIAN position at South Dakota Soybean Processors?
The Sanitation Utility Technician works independently as part of a small team that supports multiple departments and operations across the plant including: shipping, receiving, production, and sanitation. Daily tasks can range from power washing, basic grounds keeping, building maintenance, warehouse work, snow removal, etc. The standard schedule for this position is Monday -Friday from 7am- 3:30.
- Manage the general cleanliness and sanitary operations of all areas of the plant indoors and outdoors through tasks such as: industrial spill clean-up, waste disposal, power washing, loading oil into totes, basic landscaping, painting, etc.
- Maintain the designated Master Sanitation Schedule.
- Responsible to perform the necessary tasks as assigned by the Food Sanitation Manager to support the overall shipping, receiving, production, and sanitation standards of SDSP.
- Relief of other departmental positions on occasion to cover vacation schedules and operational needs (may fall outside of regular scheduled hours).
- Perform duties outside normal responsibilities as needed to support the team and overall organizational goals.
- Be a good steward of company resources.
SQF (Safe Quality Food) Compliance

Technical
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Basic math skills
- Maintain a safe, positive work attitude.
- Must be dependable, self-motivated and able to work well with others.
Physical
- Ability to frequently bend, squat, climb, kneel, stand, walk, handle objects, and reach above shoulder level
- Ability to occasionally sit, push/pull, and use fine finger movements
- Ability to frequently carry/lift 25lbs. and occasionally carry/lift 25lbs to over 50 lbs.
