The Medical Services Division in the State of South Dakota’s Social Services Department is looking for a motivated and skilled leader to fill our Deputy Director position overseeing operations of the South Dakota Medicaid program. The Division of Medical Services strives to positively impact in the lives of the citizens of South Dakota through innovative, efficient and effective administration of its Medicaid claims. The desired candidate will possess a strong commitment to service, rigorous attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced team-oriented environment.
This position will direct the work of several teams to organize, implement, and deliver broad program areas within the scope of the Medicaid program. The position includes ensuring compliance with all state and federal regulations, laws, and budgetary requirements; directing customer service delivery to providers and recipients of the Medicaid program; overseeing and administering Medicaid claims processing and provider enrollment system and process interactions; leading Medicaid program integrity analysis and development; serving as a liaison to share and evaluate information across interdepartmental and interdisciplinary teams and workgroups; representing Medicaid to internal and external stakeholders; and effectively communicating policies, program updates, and goals of the Division and Department. Successful candidates will be resourceful and open to continuous improvements and change to ensure the Medicaid program is doing its best to serve the children and families of South Dakota.
This position requires occasional in and out-of-state travel including evenings, nights, and weekends.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- experience in managerial, administrative, and supervisory principles and practices;
- familiarity with state and federal statutes and administrative rules related to Medicaid and CHIP;
- techniques related to effective and efficient project development, implementation, and outcome measurement;
- experience in health insurance administration, claims processing and billing systems;
- ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships, demonstrate compassion and tact when interacting with others;
- policy and procedure development experience;
- demonstrated history of problem-solving complex and multi-faceted issues;
- resiliency and perseverance despite adversity;
- understanding of complex systems, technology impacts to people and processes.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
