Pay Range: $118,482 - $141,365

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
A Medical Dosimetrist working at the South Florida Proton Therapy Institute would understand the characteristics and clinical relevance of radiation oncology and proton therapy treatment. They would develop and implement proton therapy treatment plans; know and understand the correct usage of immobilization devices, have an understanding of field arrangements and other treatment parameters; design and construct beam modifying devices for optimal dose delivery; and calculate doses for therapeutic cancer treatments. The clinic currently treats ~55 patients a day across two machines, the Varian Edge and Varian ProBeam.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Develops computerized treatment plan, calculates treatment doses and / or monitor unit setting to deliver dose to a tumor volume as prescribed by a radiation oncologist
· Follows the dose prescription radiation dose to a defined tumor volume.
· Calculates and documents dose in patients’ Aria electronic treatment records.
· Verifies the mathematical accuracy of all calculations.
· Assists in the selection, planning, fabrication and quality review and approval of treatment devices to aid in beam delivery modification and in the application of special dosimetry methods, devices, and techniques.
· Follows all policies and procedures established for the accurate, timely and effective development and QA of all dosimetry responsibilities.
· Responsible for thorough, and timely documentation and coding of work in Aria (OIS).
· Implements and assists in the maintenance of the quality system for medical dosimetry and record keeping.
· Participates in quality check list as source of intra-center communication.
· Ensures that all procedures are followed, verified and QA’d as they relate to the outsourcing or treatment devices, acceptance of said devices at the center, and implementation of said devices during patient treatment.
· Adheres to treatment protocol standards established by OPC for specific disease sites/stages/fields and assures documentation is thorough and captured electronically.
COMPETENCIES
- Experience in proton treatment planning preferred, but not required.
- Experience with Eclipse (Varian TPS) and/or RayStation (RaySearch TPS) preferred.
- Experience with Varian TrueBeam (Edge) or ProBeam preferred.
- Previous experience as a radiation therapist preferred.
- Graduate of medical dosimetry school preferred.
- Experience with Aria EMR preferred.
EDUCATION / DEGREE
· Position requires Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science with two years as a radiation therapist preferred.
· Certification as a Medical Dosimetrist by the Medical Dosimetry Certification Board (MDCB).
· Candidate has maintained education requirements to be a CMD (Certified Medial Dosimetrist) in good standing.
