Part-time position to assist hotel and restaurant guests with reservations, registration and accommodations, and to perform clerical functions related to the Front Desk operation at the Hotel Jacaranda. Flexible schedule: Monday-Saturday, 2 pm-11 pm (night or day shift as needed). Sundays and holidays required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Registers and assists guests upon arrival and check-out in a courteous and efficient manner.
  • Develops and maintains thorough knowledge of hotel policies and procedures, availability, rates, staff assignments and daily activities.
  • Records, reports and follows up on complaints and needed maintenance to the Front Desk Supervisor or her designee.
  • Maintains a clean, neat appearance at all times and maintains the front desk work area in a like manner.
  • Secures room keys and guest valuables in accordance with hotel policies.
  • Operates switchboard, answering calls in a timely and courteous manner, routing calls to appropriate destination and/or taking messages noting name of caller, phone number, time of call and message.
  • Checks all machines for supplies, replacing as needed before leaving shift and reporting to Front Desk Supervisor when supplies need to be ordered.
  • Maintains in safe and businesslike manner all monies, credit slips, records, and reports assigned to Front Desk. Completes all reports, counts money and makes deposit of same before check-out of shift.
  • Tags all "found" items with date, location where found, and finder's name, and places in Lost/Found cabinet as per policy and procedure.
  • Upon arrival for each shift, checks all lobby lights, A/C levels, and music type and volume to ensure a pleasant hotel and dining room experience for guests, making adjustments as needed.
  • Receives mail and distributes to appropriate guest boxes and re-routes mail on same day as delivered for guests/students who have left the hotel.
  • Works holidays as assigned by the hotel manager.
  • Assists with clerical duties as required.
  • Contributes to unit planning, assessment, and college institutional effectiveness efforts.
  • Acts as a Campus Security Authority (CSA)/responsible person for Title IX and Clery Act compliance. Must participate in all required CSA/responsible person training.
  • Acts in accordance with College and hotel policies and procedures at all times.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:


Educational:
High school diploma or equivalency preferred.

Experiential: Hotel/restaurant experience preferred. Cashiering experience preferred.
