What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Camp Director (Seasonal) position at South Lyon Area Recreation Authority?
Job Overview:
We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our camp staff team. As an Assistant Camp Director, you will play a vital role in creating a fun and safe environment for children to learn and grow. This is a paid position that offers valuable experience working with children in a camp setting.
Duties:
- Develop and coordinate day camp activities under the direct supervision of the Day Camp Director.
- Oversee and evaluate Day Camp Counselors as directed by the Day Camp Director.
- Serve as a secondary contact with parents in all discipline or communication matters.
- Assist in providing supply needs to Camp Director throughout the summer in a timely manner.
- Assist the Camp Director in ensuring all camp activities/policies/procedures meet the State of Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs Day Camp Licensing requirements.
- Assist in developing daily program activities and implementation.
- Institute and enforce all camp rules, regulations, policies and procedures as set forth by the South Lyon Area Recreation Authority and Island Lake Recreation Area.
- Ensure participant and staff welfare during all activities.
- Work as a team to ensure the safety and inclusion of all program participants.
- Work cooperatively with other Day Camp Counselors, Day Camp Director and Recreation Coordinator.
- Maintain a safe and clean camp atmosphere as well as ensuring proper maintenance and storage of all camp supplies and equipment.
- Communicate with parents as needed in a professional and effective manner.
- Perform other duties as deemed necessary by the Recreation Coordinator and Camp Director.
- Attend all pre-camp and ongoing staff meetings and trainings.
- Report any suspicion of child abuse to your camp director and discuss it with no one else.
- Assist the Camp Director in maintaining weekly time sheets, licensing documentation and sign in/sign out sheets.
