About us
South Macoupin Association for Special Education provides special education services for Mt. Olive CUSD 5, Staunton CUSD 6, and Gillespie CUSD 7. Our teachers, related service providers and paraprofessionals work to educate students with disabilities in classrooms located in these school districts.
About the Position
The school social worker or counselor will provide individual and group therapy to students with disabilities, provide behavioral interventions both directly and indirectly, serve as a resource to parents and staff, as well as complete appropriate paperwork. This position will serve students at the Gillespie CUSD 7 school district.
A Masters Degree in Social Work or Counseling is required. The state of Illinois requires a Professional Educator's License to work in the school setting. There are opportunities and pathways to achieve this designation if candidates do not have degrees in School Social Work or School Counseling. All candidates with an MA in any area of social work or counseling will be considered.
The anticipated start date for the position is February 13, 2025.
