South Mississippi Regional Center is a program of the Mississippi Department of Mental Health providing care and support for people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities. Each position at South Mississippi Regional Center is an important and impactful role that provides our individuals with the appropriate level of care to meet their social, emotional, physical, and personal needs.
Responsibilities:
Serves as the program coordinator for designated residential individuals. Coordinates, integrates and monitors each client’s individual habilitation plan. Conducts on- site observations. Assists with service delivery and client advocacy issues. Incumbents ensure the coordination of work performed by interdisciplinary staff through monitoring facility surveys and licensure and certification actions, by regulating client activity through ISP’s, 24 hour schedules, training programs and by keeping abreast of current policies and regulation. The work requires knowledge of all state and federal laws and regulations pertinent to healthcare providers and a thorough understanding of the licensure and certification processes. Knowledge of database and word processing applications necessary.
DUTIES
- Observes individuals, reviews data and progress, and revises programs based on individual need and performance
- Ensures consistency among external and internal programs and disciplines
- Ensures service design and delivery which provides each individual with an appropriate active treatment program
- Ensures that any discrepancies or conflicts between programmatic, medical, dietary, and vocational aspects of the individual's assessment and program are resolved
- Ensures a follow-up to recommendations for services, equipment or programs
- Ensures that adequate environmental supports and assistive devices are present to promote independence
Qualifications:
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a human services field (including, but not limited to: social work, sociology, special education, rehabilitation counseling, and psychology), one year of experience working directly with persons with intellectual disability or other developmental disabilities and 4-7 years of experience. Must be eligible to drive a State of Mississippi vehicle. This is a time limited position.
