Job Overview
The Employment Training Specialist is a vital member of our team, dedicated to empowering individuals with disabilities to achieve their employment and life skills goals. This role involves providing diversified training and support services related to employment, independent living, and community integration. The Employment Training Specialist will work collaboratively with clients, families, and other support systems to develop and implement individualized plans that address unique needs and aspirations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Individualized Support:
- Provide diversified training and support in areas such as employment readiness, job seeking skills, life skills, and community integration.
- Identify and implement accommodations necessary for client success and independence.
- Identify suitable job opportunities aligned with individual desires, aptitudes, and physical/emotional limitations.
- Educate and model appropriate work behaviors, including work habits, professional dress, break management, hygiene, and workplace etiquette.
- Assist with vocational learning activities and real-world work experiences.
- Collaboration and Documentation:
- Collaborate with RSA/RS (Rehabilitation Services Administration/Rehabilitation Specialist) on vocational learning activities and service planning.
- Complete required documentation, including progress reports, assessments, and service logs, in a timely and accurate manner.
- Maintain client records and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and policies.
- Participate in team meetings and case conferences to discuss client progress and address any challenges.
- Program Support:
- Provide Vocational Services as needed within various program units, including Employment Training Programs (ETP) and ACCES-VR (Adult Career and Continuing Education Services-Vocational Rehabilitation Referral).
- Ensure services provided meet department standards and align with program goals.
- Stay current on best practices and industry trends in disability employment services.
Requirements
- Education: Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a human services field (e.g., social work, psychology, rehabilitation counseling) preferred.
- Experience: Experience working with individuals with disabilities in a vocational or training setting is highly desirable.
- Skills:
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Knowledge of disability-related resources and services.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
- Other Requirements: Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
