POSITION SUMMARY:
This position works with a progressive team and will provide full inspection services for all housing programs. Reporting to the Director of Housing and working in conjunction with the leasing staff the Inspector will exercise independent judgment and follow Housing Quality Standards (HQS) or NSPIRE Standards as applicable, agency policies and inspection schedules.
Requirements:ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
This position will conduct inspections for all housing programs to determine compliance of units with standards established by the PHA. They will work with residents. landlords and applicants to educate and explain housing authority program rules, policy procedures. Perform HQS and NSPIRE inspections as directed along with showing vacant units to prospective applicants and maintain accurate and detailed files and issue work orders on inspected units coordinating with the maintenance department.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate’s degree or higher in building inspection technology or related field required. In addition, 2-4 years of proven successful related field experience or equivalent combination of experience or training.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES QUALIFICATIONS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
This position must possess a valid Maine Driver’s license and clean driving record. Proficiency in the use of MS Office Suite required. Ability to work independently, possess excellent communication, time management and organization skills and ability to interact with effectively with individuals from all dimensions of diversity. Experience with HUD or a housing authority preferred.
