We are, among other things, the Early Intervention Provider Agency in Thurston, S. Mason and Grays Harbor Counties for Early Support for Infants and Toddlers. Position Summary: The Developmental Specialist role will provide Evaluation and Special Instruction for Birth to Three families.

Job Type: Full-time: 40 hours/week

Salary: From $24 per hour

This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.

Work Location: Thurston county

Developmental Specialist Duties:

· Work as a team member of a transdisciplinary early intervention group

· Participate and effectively collaborate with the whole team (which includes families) decisions during all aspects of early intervention

· Provide emotional support and coaching for families

· Provide Special Instruction home visitation (in person and virtual) as primary service provider when team determines to this as best for successful child/family outcome

· Complete consultations and/or evaluations (DAYC and/or DECA) of children participating in the early intervention program

· Provide timely written evaluation reports that are thorough and high-quality to be accessed by a variety of team members/family/other professionals. Present reports to families with explanation of testing scores and eligibility determination.

· Document and maintain record of services and communication with families in the ESIT database.

· Complete documentation of visit by completing home visiting log and distributing to the family and other providers.

· Attend all staff meetings, specialist meetings, and training opportunities.

· Provide input for active families on caseload around service planning and IFSP outcomes.

· Plan home visit strategies and resources for families depending on needs and concerns, and complete home visits with families in whatever way it makes sense to the family and the IFSP, all in a timely manner

· Represent SSP2P in a way that is respectful of families and diversity and actively participate in SSP2P functions (Helping Parent, Support Groups, Events)

Education & Experience:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Special Education or Inclusive Early Childhood Education (Required)

· OR: Bachelor’s Degree in a Related Field with transcript review for completed courses in: Child Development, Family Systems/Family Centered Practices, Assessment & Evaluation, and Intervention/Curriculum Development

· Child Development: 2 years (Required)

· Working with children aged 0-3 with disabilities: 2 years (Preferred)

Qualifications:

· Valid Driver’s license with acceptable driving record

· Ability to pass a criminal background check

· A high level of commitment to families and young children

· Respect for unique family cultures; working with diverse populations

· Ability to work with infants and toddlers demonstrating developmental delays

· Help develop strategies with families to support growth and development

· Experience working directly with parents and caregivers; Parent Coaching

· Knowledge and experience with early child development (Birth to Three)

· Experience working with children with disabilities

· Knowledge of Part C/IDEA/Early Intervention

· Knowledge of community resources

· Ability to provide emotional support to families

· Ability to assist families in obtaining services in the community

· Ability to participate as part of a strong team within South Sound Parent to Parent

· Ability to work independently

· Excellent organization skills

· Great attention to detail

· Ability to learn quickly and not afraid to ask a lot of questions!
