Title: Navigator
- Department: 100% Program
- Status: Non-Exempt / Part-time
- Reports to: Program Director
Shift:
- Monday – Thursday: 9am - 2pm,
- Friday: 9:00am - 11:30am
Supervises: N/A
Summary: The Navigator will partner with community organizations rooted in the Riverwood Community (61st and South Peoria) to convene community members, gain input about barriers/perceived barriers to federal nutrition program participation and identify a program of interest. Furthermore, the navigator will develop and implement a plan to make notable changes in awareness, access, and/or participation of identified programs. This is a 12-month grant funded position.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: To perform the role successfully, each essential function must be performed satisfactorily.
- Maintain resources & information with appropriate referral sources to help connect clients to opportunities for empowerment
- Conduct listening sessions to assess knowledge, access, barriers, and possible solutions
- Derive recommendations for improving access and develop an initiative to meet identified needs
- Create a referral system for community resources
- Assist individuals and families with SNAP enrollment
- Measure impact of initiative implemented through community recommendations
- Complete surveys over the course of the project period
- Provide final report with recommendations at the end of the grant period
- Gather community and lived experience input and perspectives to inform project implementation before, during, and after
- Implement a project that aims to increase awareness, access, and/or participation in selected federal nutrition programs in the Riverwood community
- Developing SMARTIE (Strategic, Measurable, Ambitious, Realistic, Time-Bound, Inclusive, Equitable) goal to measure project success
- Complete interim and final reports
- Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director

- Knowledge of community-based services for marginalized individuals and families
- Ability to work on own initiative and manage own workload

- Understanding of, and strong commitment to equity and diversity
- Understanding of the need for confidentiality
Experience and Skills
- Experience in supporting individuals from marginalized communities
- Good organizational skills
- Experience working particularly with Microsoft Word and Excel, email, and database systems
- Good written and verbal communication skills and ability to present information clearly
- Experience in consulting and involving people in service design and delivery
- Strong interpersonal skills to build positive relationships
- Good listening skills

Education: Minimum requirement is a High School diploma or equivalent. .
