What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cheer Coach position at SOUTH UMPQUA SD 19?
Position Overview:
South Umpqua High School is seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated, and experienced Cheer Coach to lead and develop our cheer program. The ideal candidate will foster a positive, competitive environment that promotes teamwork, sportsmanship, and the overall development of student-athletes both on and off the court.
Qualifications:
Prior cheer coaching experience at the high school level or equivalent preferred.
Strong knowledge of cheer techniques, stunting, safety protocols, and competition rules.
Must possess or be able to obtain all required coaching certifications (e.g., First Aid/CPR, NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching, Concussion Training, OSAA certification, etc.).
Ability to build positive relationships with student-athletes, staff and families.
Demonstrated leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Additional Responsibilies:
Plan and lead all practices, performances, and competitions for the varsity cheer team.Promote teamwork, discipline, sportsmanship, and a positive school image.
Coordinate with the athletic director, administration, and other coaches to support school-wide events and activities.
Manage team logistics including tryouts, scheduling, transportation, uniforms, and communication with students and families.
Ensure compliance with all school, district, league, and OSAA (or relevant athletic association) policies and regulations.
