Department Overview:
The Technology Innovation Team is responsible for continuously evaluating vendors, solutions, and products to ensure they best meet the needs of SWC and SWC’s client partners. In collaboration with other internal departments, information is gathered and used to help determine opportunities for new technology/product solutions. The Innovation team is responsible for researching and pursuing these new solutions through vendor relationships or custom solution builds. The Innovation Team conducts strenuous testing of technology solutions and products within our lab environment to ensure deficiencies, defects, or limitations are found prior to market release.
Position Overview:
The primary function of the Technology Innovation Analyst is to conduct technical research on approved technology initiatives. This research will include product demonstrations with vendors/manufacturers, determination of software & equipment needed for onsite lab evaluation & testing, installation & configuration of solution within the SWC innovation labs, testing, and thorough documentation of these efforts and associated outcomes. This role will also assist in identifying, evaluating and recommending emerging technologies that can drive innovation and create opportunities for the organization. This role will actively lead or participate in testing/validation experiments within the innovation lab environments.
As part of the innovation research, Analyst will be expected to deploy new technology solutions within the lab environment as needed. This may require oversight of vendor resources performing work, assisting third party resources with setup/configuration tasks, or solely completing technical tasks for deployment.
Occasionally, there will be a need for the Innovation Analyst to present information to current or prospective clients. This may be a coordinated effort with SWC Account Executives, Account Managers, tradeshows, etc. The Innovation Analyst will be expected to have pertinent information prepared along with an understanding of the presentation content.

Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain and maintain a sound technical understanding of existing technology solutions and associated products within the product portfolio.
- Identify and evaluate emerging technologies that can improve existing technologies, increase efficiency and create new revenue streams.
- Conduct research and analysis to identify technology trends, industry best practices and competitor strategies.
- Work closely with internal team members to understand innovative ideas, technical challenges, and opportunities for product or process improvement.
- Work closely with external partners, including technology vendors, startups and academic institutions, to identify and evaluate new technology solutions.
- Stay up to date with emerging technologies, attend industry events and conference, and participate in innovation communities.
- Create and maintain documentation supporting the research, testing and results of efforts driven by the Innovation Team.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. Computer Science, Information Technology, Innovation Management).
- 3 years of experience in technology innovation, product management or related fields.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex technology challenges and recommend effective solutions.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and present complex information to a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Familiarity with innovation methodologies such as Design Thinking, lean Startup, and Agile.
- Knowledge of emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, and Cloud Computing.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft and Linux server environments including installation, configuration and administration.
- Hands-on experience configuring software applications
- Comfortable creating detailed application architecture diagrams
