Position: Farm Cultivation Team Member
Reports to: Farm Manager
Classification: Full Time, Non-Exempt
Southall is a premier destination bringing nature, produce and people together in a powerful and unique way. This position part of the Farm Cultivation Team, which operates a 2-acre vegetable operation, four acres of apple and berry orchards, as well as producing pasture-raised eggs, chickens, turkeys and ducks. The food produced supplies our onsite restaurants and events and is grown using organic and regenerative methods as much as possible. Farm Cultivation Team Members take part in all tasks related to these operations, and its a great opportunity to gain diverse farm experience.
Responsibilities
- Seed starting and greenhouse plant care.
- Preparation and maintenance of growing areas.
- Planting, harvesting and weeding crops.
- Washing and packaging produce.
- Caring for poultry.
- Helping to improve farming systems and work towards regenerative goals.
Requirements:
- The job will also require lifting of objects 50 lbs. multiple times per day.
- Parts of job require a serious degree of physical effort, and an ability to stick with long and difficult tasks.
- Attention to detail and willingness to learn are key.
- Willingness to work outside, rain or shine, heat or cold.
- Interest in developing ecological farming systems.
Skills and Experience:
- Valid drivers license
- 1 Season of farming preferred
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
