Lab Supervisor: Pediatric Clinic

We seek a full-time Supervisor for the moderate-to high complexity lab at our Eden Prairie clinic (occasional travel to other clinics). Flexible full-time hours include: day shift (8am-5pm), evening clinic until 8pm rotation, and Saturday morning (8am-12pm) rotation.

Lab Supervisor Responsibilities:

• leads the daily activities of the lab and department staff
• provides day to day supervision of personnel performing moderate complexity testing, and is accessible to testing personnel at all times to provide support on site, or via phone/email
• assists with proficiency testing including reporting and troubleshooting
• resolves technical problems, ensures actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the lab's established performance specifications
• manages lab services in accordance with clinical and governmental standards in the absence of the lab manager
• facilitates department policies, procedures, and work standards
• in response to workload demands, assists lab staff in collecting specimens and ensures accurate and appropriate completion of lab tests including the processing of outside lab testing
• coordinates cost-effective ordering/receiving/inventorying of lab supplies and vaccine orders
• assists with orienting, training, monitoring, and evaluating employee performance
• oversees daily work assignments and operations including phone and physician questions
• assists with monitoring quality controls for the department
• works with lab personnel to make the lab a pleasant and efficient place to work

Lab Supervisor Qualifications:

• Associates degree in laboratory science and 2 years of lab training/experience in high complexity lab OR
• Bachelors degree in laboratory science, AND 1 year laboratory training or experience in high complexity testing
• ASCP/AMT Certification: MLS preferred or MLT
• preferred two years of supervisory experience
• knowledge of clinical laboratory procedures and practices, and lab standards to evaluate department and recommend improvements
• knowledge of lab equipment and testing to monitor performance and quality control checks

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
