Position Overview: The Community Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for leading and managing the agency's outreach initiatives to raise awareness of domestic violence issues, promote prevention programs, and foster relationships with community partners. This role plays a vital part in educating the public, advocating for victims, and enhancing the agency's visibility and impact within the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and oversee community outreach and engagement strategies to promote awareness and understanding of domestic violence and the agency's services.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with local organizations, government agencies, schools, and community groups.
- Organize and lead events, workshops, and presentations on domestic violence prevention, intervention, and support services.
- Assist in the recruitment, screening, interviewing, training, reference follow up, performance evaluation, and recognition of program volunteers including board candidates.
- Represent the agency at community meetings, conferences, and public forums to advocate for domestic violence victims and resources.
- Collaborate with marketing professionals to create outreach materials, including brochures, social media content, website management, and press releases.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of outreach programs and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Assist in grant writing and fundraising efforts related to outreach and awareness campaigns.
- Provide resources and support to community members seeking assistance or information regarding domestic violence.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, public relations, education, communications, or a related field. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in community outreach, fundraising, volunteer recruitment, advocacy, or a related field, with a strong understanding of domestic violence issues.
- Excellent communication, public speaking, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain partnerships with diverse community stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of local resources and support services for individuals affected by domestic violence.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
Work Environment:
- Part time with a flexible schedule, must be able to attend occasional evening and weekend work for community events.
- Significant travel required within the local area, mileage reimbursement included.
