Position Summary:
The Extra Help Substitute Teacher is a part-time position responsible for carrying out the routine care & supervision of toddlers ranging from ages 18 Months to 3 years of age and preschoolers ranging from ages 3 to 5 years of age. This position is governed by state licensing policies, as well as Better Beginnings requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Provide for the physical and emotional needs of the children.
- Support educational and social experiences of children in care.
- Maintain detailed records on students in care.
- Document the observation/interaction hours of undergraduate students with children in care.
- Provide administrative assistance to the Director of the Childcare Center.
- Perform other duties deemed necessary by the Director.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of Early Childhood Development and Education, Arkansas Minimum Licensing Requirements, Environmental Rating Scales, and observation and assessment of young children.
- Ability to prepare, present, and review oral and written information.
- Ability to develop developmentally appropriate lesson plans and activities for young children.
- Ability to obtain and provide information, guidance, and education to parents, guardians, and other constituents.
- Demonstrated computer skills, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office, e-mail, and database management.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work with a diverse student population.
Minimum Requirements:
- Two years of experience working with children in a childcare setting
Preferred Requirements:
- Associate degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or related field
Other job related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements, upon approval of the Qualifications Review Committee.
