Posting DetailsPosition Information Position Title Community Education Coordinator - PT Department Continuing Education Beatrice Location Beatrice Job Category Professional Job Type PT Posting Number 01889 Position End DatePosition Summary Information General Description of Position Under the general supervision and direction of the Dean of Continuing Education, the Community Education Coordinator will identify needs, recruit and supervise instructors, coordinate, manage, direct, and evaluate various noncredit community education classes for adult learners, in the Beatrice and Gage County region.Essential FunctionsProgram Development : Identify community needs and interests through surveys, focus groups, and other research methods.Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop and design educational courses and create relevant and engaging content with the adult learner in mind.Coordination and Administration : Schedule and coordinate classes and events, ensuring appropriate facilities and resources are available.Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, making adjustments as necessary to improve quality and participation.Develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with all divisions and programs throughout the college.Supervise Adjunct FaultyInterview, hire, orient, and evaluate individuals assigned to teach community education courses.Assign pay rates and initiate payroll for instructors.Ensure that required personnel records are completed and provided to the proper College Office within the established time frame.Marketing and Promotion : Maintain relationships with local organizations, businesses, and media to enhance program visibility.In coordination with the Dean of Continuing Education, and the Director of Life & Leisure, develop and implement marketing strategies to promote community education programs.In collaboration with SCC's Marketing Department, initiate and provide feedback for promotional materials, including brochures, flyers, and social media content.Community Engagement : Serve as a liaison between the college and the community, fostering partnerships and collaborations.Attend community events and meetings to promote educational opportunities and gather feedback.Create advisory groups to assist in program development and evaluation.Provide excellent customer service to students, instructors, staff, and community members.Budget and Financial Management : Develop and manage the budget for community education programs.Seek funding opportunities, including sponsorships, to support program initiatives.Monitor expenditures and ensure programs are financially sustainable.Participate on the Division Management TeamParticipate with Continuing Education Directors and the Dean to develop division goals, evaluate and formulate division operating procedures and policies, and assess the overall performance of the division.Promote / Support Diversity, Inclusion, Equity, and AccessWork toward creating a welcoming, inclusive, equitable, and productive work and learning environment, where all students, faculty members, and college employees are valued and may contribute to their full potential, regardless of their differences. Work schedules (hours / days / work location) are scheduled by Southeast Community College based on the needs of the College. Work hours, shifts, days, and work locations may vary depending on the needs of Southeast Community College and are subject to modification. Emergency or scheduled special activities may require hours outside of the regular workweek.Required Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge and experience in recruiting, screening, interviewing, hiring, supervising, and evaluating staff.Ability to create and monitor the program budgets and apply sound fiscal management practices.Ability to develop, coordinate, and schedule programming activities.Ability to organize, and direct group dynamics for the purpose of participating on planning committees, budget preparation, and other assigned activities.Ability and experience with Microsoft Office applications, mostly Word but occasionally Excel and PowerPoint.Ability to travel and work within Gage County locations for the purpose of scheduling classes.Ability to lift and carry up to (50) fifty pounds for short distances, and move tables, chairs, and media equipment.Ability to communicate effectively both in writing, in person, and on the phone.Ability to use basic computer skills.The individual must possess the above skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. Minimum Qualifications Associate's degree in Business Administration or related fields of study.At least 3 years' coordination or project management experience in a recreational environment, business, industry, government agency, or educational institution. Desired Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies, Business Administration, or related fields.Experience in supervisory or project management. Salary $23.13 per hourBenefits Part-time regular employees are eligible to participate in the TIAA retirement plan through a Roth, SRA, or 457(B) account, with no match provided by the College. Additionally, part-time regular employees may enroll in the group vision plan through employee-paid premiums. Schedule Normal work hours for this part-time regular position are scheduled between 7 : 30 a.m. and 10 : 00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturday hours, with a 20-29 hour workweek.
