Position Title : Chief Strategy Officer

Reports To : Chief Executive Officer

Position Summary : A Chief Strategy Officer, or Chief Strategist, is responsible for working closely with the CEO to improve current business operations and revise them to achieve SEFBHN’s long-term vision.

Key Roles & Responsibilities :

  • Provide support under the direction of the CEO to external organizations, committees, & boards and other public entities to represent SEFBHN.
  • Work in consultation with the CEO to develop relationships and partnerships with local governments, school districts, legislative delegation, hospitals, Medicaid managed care organizations, and other behavioral health funders.
  • Survey existing MOU / MOA for opportunities to strengthen protective factors and build social supports across systems.
  • Develop a team-based environment to motivate and inspire staff to work collaboratively toward vision and goals by clearly communicating SEFBHN vision, implementing yearly staff development plans, and mentoring.
  • Participate in the budget development process and maintain a high level of fiscal responsibility.

Required Education / Experience :

A master’s degree in human services-related discipline required. Minimum of 7 years’ experience with an employment record of increasing responsibilities in strategic planning, project management, and business development, preferably in a large multi-disciplinary hospital or system.

Essential Job Functions :

  • Working with the board of directors and CEO develop locally chosen and tailored strategies to build social infrastructure.
  • Identifying strategic threats and risks and developing plans to combat them.
  • Analyzing changes in command climate, network performance, competitive intelligence and access vs. capacity.
  • Identifying crucial strategic partnership opportunities that promote community mental wellness and resilience.
  • Setting suitable metrics for measuring the progress and performance of SEFBHN’s recovery-oriented system of care.
  • Communicating strategies to employees and provider network.
  • Developing and monitoring business operations plan for execution and progress.
  • Working with consultants, special committees and executives to execute strategies.
  • Developing training and creating development plans.
  • Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :

  • Computer-proficiency with ability to develop complex business plans using data to drive strategy is essential.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to establish open, respectful, and candid relationships and exhibit a high degree of professional ethics.
  • Solid knowledge of behavioral healthcare industry standards, laws, and business drivers.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Ability to overcome barriers, problem-solve, and otherwise accomplish key goals and objectives.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
