What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dental Assistant position at Southeast Healthcare?
We are looking for a Dental Assistant to provide chairside procedures in a dental clinic that serves adults and children with and without severe and persistent mental illness; performs chairside procedures; assists the dentist; provides indirect patient treatment; maintains inventory of supplies and materials; maintains equipment; performs general clerical and outreach tasks.
Responsible for assisting with dental functions by performing the following duties:
- Seat, prepare and dismiss patients as well as provide oral or written pre-operative and post-operative treatment instructions.
- Perform preparatory procedures such as taking, developing and mounting X-rays.
- Take impressions.
- Prepare work areas to include stocking, setting up, breaking down and cleaning as needed.
- Apply knowledge and ability regarding tray/instrument/equipment set-up, break down, management and sterilization procedures.
- Maintain the sterilization area to include cleaning instruments and restocking trays.
- Set up treatment areas for appointments.
- Maintain general dental office equipment.
- Manage new patient charts and updates.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- 2-4 years of dental assistant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certifications/Licenses:
- Certified Dental Assistant (CDA)
- Radiology Certification
