Digital Communication Manager Position Description

Reports to: Executive Director

Primary Objectives of Position: Under the general supervision of the Executive Director, this individual will serve as the Digital Communications Manager and implement a social media and website marketing plan. The plan will include the development of the following: brand development, promotion/engagement strategies, identify target customers, visual design, web development strategies and a methodology to measure and analyze the return on investment. This position will work hand in hand with the leadership team and partner organizations to promote the workforce system and services in southeast Kansas.

Essential Job Functions: Manage social media and website marketing campaigns and day-to-day activities including:

  • Develop relevant content topics to reach target customers.
  • Create, curate, and manage all published content (images, video, written and audio/podcast).
  • Monitor, listen and respond to users in a “Social” way while cultivating leads.
  • Conduct online advocacy and open a stream for cross-promotions.
  • Develop and expand community and/or influencer outreach efforts.
  • Oversee design, Social media graphics for all profiles: Facebook cover, profile pic, thumbnails, Instagram, YouTube channel, X (Twitter), TikTok etc. Ad design, Landing pages, Website design
  • Design, create and manage promotions and social ad campaigns, being sure to integrate with Department of Commerce’s overall marketing campaign plan and channels.
  • Create and manage an online review funnel for building online reviews and reputation. Monitor online reviews and respond to each review timely and with care.
  • Develop key performance indicators and analyze the return on investment for digital marketing.
  • Compile reports for management showing results.
  • Plan and execute social media platforms to enhance the visibility and public perception of the organization.
  • Work with management team to organize media activities that support the 17-county region to provide awareness of our programs, events and objectives.
  • Ensure clear and transparent communication between & amongst all required and core partners on brand management.
  • Successfully convert all service content so they can be accessed virtually (via all platforms).
  • Represent the local area on the State Branding Committee
  • In coordination with the management team, produce, develop and maintain all flyers, handouts, presentations and videos.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of the Southeast KANSASWORKS website and social media platforms.
  • Develop and distribute a quarterly newsletter with input from the management team.
  • Assists in distribution of email blasts.
  • Manage media relations to include writing and distributing press releases in coordination with the Executive Director.
  • Serve as a backup to Executive Director to media relations
  • Lead or assist with events throughout the local area; to include development of work plans, agenda development, speaker recruitment, sponsorship outreach, logistics, vendor selection.
  • Other duties as deemed necessary by the supervisor.

Job Location and Time Commitment:

This position may work in any of our four locations in Chanute, Emporia, Independence, or Pittsburg. Primary work will occur from this office, but the position will be required to travel within the 17-county area as needed. This position is a full-time, hourly position. This position is expected to work 40 hours per week. Employment is an at will employer-employee relationship.

Job Qualifications and Experience:

  • Prefer an associate’s degree in business, communications, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Previous experience in social media platforms and website administration.
  • Must be a confident communicator and presenter.
  • Strong writing, editing, proofreading, layout and design, professional printing/publishing skills are essential, including ability to present concepts verbally.
  • Experience working with the community, public and non-profit organizations and all levels of government.
  • Ability to relate effectively with people with a high level of integrity.
  • Other duties and special projects as needed to meet overall organizational objectives.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytic ability and technical competency.
  • Must possess general PC proficiency and strong skills in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and valid automobile insurance.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
