Position Description:
The Louisiana Department of Health, Office of Public Health, Bureau of Family Health (BFH), in partnership with Southeast Louisiana Area Health Education Center (SELAHEC), has an opening for an ACE Educator Program Supervisor on the Data to Action Team. BFH works to promote the health of women, children and families in every stage of life. The Bureau administers the state’s Title V Maternal and Child Health Block Grant program, the Title X Family Planning program, and multiple other programs, projects, and initiatives designed to monitor and improve the health of pregnant women, babies, children, teens and adults, and individuals with special needs. BFH’s mission is to elevate the strengths and voices of individuals, families, organizations, and communities to catalyze transformational change to improve population health.
This full-time Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) Educator Program Coordinator is responsible for activities to sustain and grow the ACE Educator Program’s network of volunteers and its capacity to promote clear and consistent education about childhood adversity, its impacts on child development and related risk and protective factors. This position provides support to Bureau of Family Health (BFH) personnel and programs as needed to integrate awareness of childhood adversity and trauma-informed approaches into the Bureau’s work. Direct Supervision is provided by BFH’s ACE Educator Program
Supervisor. The position is assigned to the Bureau of Family Health (BFH) within the Office of Public Health (OPH).
Location: The position is located in New Orleans, LA
Starting Salary Range: $50,128.00- $74,225.00, commensurate with experience
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provides Support to the Volunteer ACE Educator Network
- Plan and conduct Quarterly Statewide Coaching Calls.
- Host Office Hours monthly.
- Host booster and/or practice sessions in person or virtual.
- Train ACE Educators in program materials, including any new modules.
- Provide input to the AEP Supervisor for the monthly program update email.
- Coordinates Presentation Requests
- Respond to and facilitate the scheduling of presentation requests.
- Coordinate any requests with appropriate staff (CEs, certificates, resources, etc.).
- Provide any needed resources or technical assistance to ACE Educators.
- Promote presentations to key stakeholders
- Work with ACE Educators to generate presentation opportunities local to them
- Deliver presentations, when requested and in alignment with other program priorities
- Community Capacity Building
- Coordinate and facilitate regional meetings in each of the nine public health regions.
- Conduct outreach activities across the state with a primary focus on Regions with low AEP representation
- Trains Cohorts of Educators
- Coordinate, facilitate, and conduct cohort trainings based on identified needs and expressed interest
- Coordinate logistics and communicate with participants and trainers
- Promote, recruit, and coordinate enrollment for participant applications
- Follow up with all participants post-training and assist educators in meeting certification requirements
- Monitor the ACE Educator certification status and activities
- Administrative Responsibilities
- Submit presentation and training documentation to the AEP Supervisor
- Prepare and contribute to internal and external reports as assigned.
- Contribute to efforts of the Whole Health Louisiana (WHL) Initiative including:
- Attend meetings and update partners regarding the AEP, new modules, and training
opportunities.
- Represent the interests of the AEP Educators, specifically regarding collaborative ways to best support Educator efforts throughout the state.
- Maintain documentation and participate in required intern supervision activities.
- Conduct ongoing quality improvement to inform and adapt program delivery, monitoring, and evaluation as assigned by the AEP Supervisor.

- Participate in webinars and routine TA calls with statewide and community-based coalitions focused on prevention and trainings related to the prevention and mitigation of childhood adversity and trauma as identified.
- Participate in internal staff, project, and professional development meetings and trainings as requested or assigned.
- Serve as liaison for the AEP.
- Complete other duties as assigned, including supporting the coordination and management of Emergency Operations during activation and as needed between events.
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED:
A baccalaureate degree with at least 2 years of professional-level experience in administrative services, education, public health, social services, health services, or program coordination.
DESIRED:
- A master's degree with 1 year of experience in public health, counseling, social work,
psychology, health administration, or related field with a focus on childhood development.
- Prior experience with program and/or volunteer management is preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical information in a non-technical manner to diverse cross-sector audiences.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to provide program supervision and manage multiple tasks.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to think proactively and function independently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and Zoom.
