Job description
SNMCAC is a private non-profit organization, that has served at-risk and impoverished children, individuals (including senior citizens), and families since 1965 through multiple state and federal funding streams. Since its inception 60 years ago, the organization has grown significantly and now provides a myriad of programs across five counties. Early Childhood services, including health, oral health, mental health and disabilities services are provided to children ages three-five in Eddy and Chaves counties, which positively impacts their growth, development, and progress toward school readiness.
Summary Description
The Assistant Head Start Director acts as Interim Head Start Director in her/his absence. The Assistant Director is responsible for assisting the Director in providing strategic leadership and direction for children and families, throughout the service area. S/he will assist the Director, in partnership with the Head Start Leadership team, in setting goals and overseeing the direction of the program. Works collaboratively with all program staff including functional and content area staff: Center Managers, Education, Special Services, Family & Community Engagement, Health and Nutrition, as well as all other agency staff.
Responsibilities include (not inclusive):
- Providing supervision/management to assigned staff;
- Supporting the Head Start Director in the overall operations of the Head Start program consistent with agency policies, local, state, and federal regulations, including Head Start Performance Standards, and required funding source guidelines;
- Assists the Head Start Director in planning and holding monthly (or more frequently if indicated) review and assessment meetings with Center Managers, Content Area Managers, and other management staff;
- Coordinates the planning and updating of program plans.
- Maintains excellent and proactive communication with parents, responding to their input.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in education, preferably Early Childhood, Business Administration Public Administration, or related field from a traditional four-year regionally accredited college or university and three (3) years of related work experience.

Budget preparation and management
Personnel administration and staff supervision
Program development activities and community relations
Program Planning, Assessment, and Evaluation
Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills

Salary: $57,096.00 – $71,379.00 per year – depending on qualifications
