Responsibilities
- Assist surgeons during procedures by performing tasks such as tissue retraction, IV line management, and documentation.
- Verify patient identity and operative sites.
- Discuss surgical procedures with the surgeon, including consent and exposure methods.
- Maintain aseptic technique throughout procedures.
- Ensure an unobstructed operative field using surgical retractors, sponges, and suctioning equipment.
- Determine necessary equipment and supplies for procedures.
- Obtain and inspect sterile and non-sterile equipment and supplies.
- Operate sterilization devices.
- Monitor patient intraoperative status.
- Obtain dental radiographs and imaging.
- Complete patient clinical narratives.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- BLS certification required within 1 month of hire.
- At least one year of related experience preferred.
- DAANCE certification preferred.
- Licensed dental assistant preferred.
- Radiology certification preferred.
