JOB DESCRIPTION: AREA Career Development COUNSELOR at Wahpeton Public School (Wahpeton, ND)
TITLE: Career Development Counselor
QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Valid ND Guidance Credential
2. Valid ND Career Development Endorsement
3. Masters Degree in Guidance and Counseling
4. Such additional requirements as set by the Board/The Board may Grant Provisional Status to the Above Requirements
REPORTS TO:SRCTC Director/ASST Director & Wahpeton High School Principal
JOB GOAL: To lead students toward the fulfillment of their potential for career selection, physical, intellectual, social/emotional growth, and maturation.
:
1. Provide proper leadership and guidance in the areas of guidance and counseling services.
2. Obtain and maintain proper professional credentials and affiliations with professional organizations.
3. Develop and take part in public relations activities.
4. Follow school policies and procedures.
5. Manage and maintain an orderly office.
6. Develop and follow an annual program of work in cooperation with participating and other Southeast Region Career/Tech. Center Guidance personnel.
7. Develop and follow Center policies and procedures regarding annual Management by Objectives Programs.
8. Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
9. Assess the accomplishments of students and the Guidance Program on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
10. Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
11. Develop and distribute monthly "Program of Work" calendars and provide monthly planning reports and follow-up reports as requested.
12. Attend and participate in faculty meetings.
13. Make provisions for being available to students and parents for guidance and counseling activities outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
14. Assist in the selection of guidance materials, equipment, computer software, and testing materials for the program to include development and maintenance of a career/guidance resource center.
15. Provide for own professional growth through ongoing program of reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced course work at institutions of advanced training as well as industry based workshops.
16. Provide leadership and direction for a program of student financial aids and scholarships.
17. Attend board meetings as requested.
18. Complete follow-up information/reports.
19. Provide leadership and facilitate a guidance program for grades K-12 as assigned.
20. Develop formal 9-12 Educational Equity/Sexual Harassment Program activities and provide leadership and coordination of the program within the framework of the guidance program.
21. Other duties as assigned by the Director. Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at anytime.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be according to the contract conditions approved by the Southeast Region Career/Tech. Center Board of Education.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of professional personnel.
