What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Service Representative position at Southeast Texas Dermatology?
We are a Houston-based dermatology practice looking for individuals to join our Port Arthur office as we expand our presence throughout Texas. We have immediate openings for motivated, professional medical office receptionists and checkout personnel to join our dynamic team. Scope of practice includes medical dermatology, dermatologic surgery, and cosmetic dermatology (including Botox, fillers, and laser treatments). Individuals with multiple jobs over a short period of time and brief tenures at those jobs need not apply.
· Professionally greeting patients both in person and on the phone
· Quickly answering or properly referring questions and issues
· Optimizing provider schedules and patient satisfaction with efficient scheduling
· Notifying providers of patient arrivals
· Comforting patients by anticipating anxieties and effectively answering questions
· Ensuring availability of treatment information by retrieving and updating patient records
· Verifying insurance and financial records.
· The ability to use Availity and other online Insurance portals to obtain copay, coinsurance, and deductible amounts highly preferred.
· Ability to use the above tools to determine if patient referrals or authorizations are required prior to visit is critical. Proactively obtaining patient referrals and visit authorizations well before patient visit is also highly preferred.
· Collecting patient charges while filing and expediting third-party claims. The ideal candidate is comfortable with quickly adding/subtracting dollar values and calculating percentages.
· Maintaining office inventory and equipment by anticipating supply needs and expediting supply orders
· Ability to solve problems independently in a fast-paced environment
· Comfortable sending and receiving faxes on an e-fax platform.
· Proficient in document management with the ability to efficiently organize and store files/folders either locally on a hard drive or in the cloud to allow team members effective and timely access
· Attention to detail with respect to obtaining patient demographic detail including name, date of birth, insurance information, primary care provider, etc.
Qualifications
- Medical administrative support experience
- Proficiency in patient service and front desk operations
- Familiarity with EMR systems.
****EMA Experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and medical terminology
- Ability to manage medical records efficiently
- Experience in dermatology terminology and clinic operations
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $13.00 - $20.00 per hour
