Position Title: Scheduler/Medical Assistant: Primary role rooming patients
Department Name: Back Office
Supervisor’s Title: Office Supervisor
Essential functions and responsibilities:
- Checkout patients seen in the office and schedule follow-up visits, procedures, and tests as needed.
- Generate orders, referrals, and recalls as requested by practice providers.
- Answer phone calls from patients, monitor fax and EMR queues for results, tasks, orders from providers or responses from patients, providers, and staff. Follow up on related items relaying results to patients, answering clinical questions, calling other facilities or providers.
- Handle administrative tasks for providers including managing provider schedules, paperwork, copying, scanning, filings, etc.
- Maintain appropriate documents, reports, and files to comply with all applicable laws and policies.
- Taking vitals, rooming patients, and updating patient medical record.
- Other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
Knowledge and Skill:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years in the healthcare field.
- Knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology.
- Experience in Gastroenterology a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products, Internet browsing and medical practice management software.
Physical demands:
- Frequent alpha/ numeric keyboarding.
- Oral communication over the phone and in person.
- Ability to view computer monitor.
- Must be able to exercise patience and accuracy in the face of multiple interruptions.
