Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond invites applications for the position of Department Head in the Department of Management and Business Administration. The Department Head is the chief academic and administrative officer of the department, with a 12-month appointment. The Department Head is responsible to the Dean of the College, to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, and to the President for the administration of the department. The Department Head is responsible for advancing a culture of academic excellence where distinction in teaching, research, scholarship, and service is expected and rewarded.The Department Head is expected to provide leadership for curriculum development, implementation and the assessment of student learning. This position oversees all activities in the department, including but not limited to the promotion of undergraduate and graduate education, oversight of course scheduling, support of student and faculty development/recruitment, management of all departmental budgets, and evaluation of faculty in accordance with university and departmental guidelines. The Department Head is also responsible for coordinating, supervising, and executing departmental activities related to maintenance of accreditation. The Department Head is active in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses and maintains a research program appropriate for a department in a college with undergraduate and master's degree programs.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
To be considered for the position, applicants must have an earned doctorate from an AACSB-accredited university in Management, Economics, or related field by hire date and must have (1) a record of very good teaching; and (2) a record of scholarship sufficient for appointment at the rank of associate or full professor. Previous administrative and leadership experience desired. Applicants must be committed to working with diversity.
