Job Description
The Department Head is responsible for leading the Department of Teaching & Learning, overseeing faculty and staff, and driving academic excellence. Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing departmental strategic plans
- Fostering a culture of inclusivity, diversity, and respect
- Mentoring and evaluating faculty members
- Representing the department at college and university levels
Requirements
To be considered for this role, applicants must possess:
- A doctorate in Curriculum & Instruction, Teaching/Teacher Education, or a related discipline from an accredited university
- Successful four-year college/university teaching experience
- A record of scholarly achievement meriting appointment to associate or full professor
- Prior K-12 teaching experience
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates with experience in administrative work, department head roles, or national accreditation (NCATE/CAEP) or regional accreditation (e.g., SACSCOC) will be given priority.
