Southeastern Louisiana University's College of Education invites applications for Department Head of the Department of Teaching & Learning. The department head is the academic and administrative officer, a twelve-month employee responsible to the Dean of the College of Education and Provost/Vice-President for Academic Affairs.
Success in assigned responsibilities requires an individual who understands administration, accepts authority, and supports diversity amongst professionals. The Department Head teaches undergraduate and graduate courses and maintains a research program suitable for a college with undergraduate and masters degree programs.
Required Qualifications
- Doctorate in Curriculum & Instruction, Teaching/Teacher Education, or related discipline from an accredited university
- Successful four-year college/university teaching experience
- Record of scholarly achievement meriting associate or full professor appointment
- Prior K-12 teaching experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Administrative work experience at the university level
- Experience as a department head or equivalent
- Priority given to individuals with national accreditation (NCATE/CAEP) or regional accreditation experience
