Southeastern Louisiana University's Department of Athletics invites applications for the position of News & Community Affairs Coordinator. The successful candidate will work with the Assistant Athletic Director for Broadcast Services to develop the radio station’s news agenda and directs newsgathering, as well as coordinating the identification, assigning, gathering, editing and production of news materials for local, regional, national and international broadcast. This can include spot, feature and documentary reports.Ensures KSLU local news reports and news programs are thoroughly researched, balanced, accurate, engaging and produced in a professional, timely, technically exacting and fiscally responsible manner. This position also serves a reporter, anchor, producer, and executive producer for various news programs.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree
Two years’ experience in the news department of a public radio station or equivalent
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
Knowledge of on-air and remote broadcasting processes and procedures
Ability to oversee, coordinate, and support the execution of continuous broadcast schedules on a 24x7 basis
