Optim Health is seeking a full time Patient Access Director. This is a remote position, however, must live within a 60 mile radius to Savannah, GA .

Job Summary : Supports Manager in supervising all of Registration Department in the general area of Outpatient, and the Emergency Department Registration areas and Financial Counselors. Maintains efficient and orderly admission of inpatients and registration process of individuals who have hospital-based / ASC outpatient testing or procedure. Maintains open communication with the OR Manager, Nursing Supervisor and Environmental Services.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Supports Registration Department and Financial Counseling, including reservations for hospital services, preregistration patients, verifying insurance eligibility, registration outpatients and inpatients and directing financial counseling.

Ensures that the Registration Departments are collecting accurate information from the patient and entering it correctly into the computer system.

Responsible for in servicing the Registration Department concerning issues such as Conditions of Admissions, advance directives, patient's rights and responsibilities, HIPAA, Medicare Secondary payor and hospital policies and procedures.

Is available to the Registration Department and financial counselors to handle patients' concerns, complaints.

Assists in updating the Registration Department and financial counseling policy and procedures as needed.

Assists in maintaining the insurance master files.

Communicates clearly and concisely within the department and with other hospital departments.

Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity.

Interacts professionally with patient / family and provides explanations and verbal reassurance as necessary.

Documentation meets current standards and policies.

Maintains and operates equipment safely and correctly.

Orders supplies and printing weekly; obtains orders as required.

Responsible for operating the Registration Department safe for patient valuables.

Professional Requirements :

Adheres to dress code; appearance is clean and neat.

Completes annual educational requirements.

Maintains regulatory requirements including all state, federal and accreditation regulations related to the Registration Department and, as appropriate, to the facility.

Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work within designated time.

Wears identification on duty; uses computerized punch time system correctly.

Attends annual review and performs departmental in-services.

Holds staff meetings, provides minutes of the meeting to Registration Department staff members.

Attends committee, CQI and management meetings as appropriate.

Ensures patient confidentiality.

Resolves personnel concerns at the department level, utilizing the grievance process as required.

Ensures compliance with policies and procedures regarding department operations, fire, safety and infection control.

Effectively and consistently communicates administrative directives to personnel and encourages interactive departmental meetings and discussions.

Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.

Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.

Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the facility, as well as the focus statement of the department.

Regulatory Requirements :

  • Bachelor degree preferred.
  • Previous experience in patient access required
  • Previous manager experience required

Language Skills :

  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Additional languages preferred.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Skills :

  • Basic computer knowledge.
