JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented Human Resources Generalist to join our team at SEU. This is an on-site position requiring a strong commitment to our Christian mission and values. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and be a strategic thinker with a passion for process improvement, capable of performing a wide range of HR functions.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to: Director of Human Resources
Supervisory Responsibility: N/A
Indirect Supervisory Responsibility: N/A
ESSENTIAL DUTIES - May include, but is not limited to the following:
Recruiting and Onboarding:
- Aid in the management of the recruiting process, equipping hiring managers to hire for their needed roles
- Assist Associate Director with managing the onboarding process, including paperwork, orientation, and new hire training.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure that new hires are set up for success on day one of their new role.
HRIS and Recordkeeping:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records in our HRIS system (Paycom experience preferred).
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Generate reports and analyze HR data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
Process Improvement:
- Identify areas for process improvement within the HR department and implement solutions.
- Stay up-to-date on HR best practices and industry trends.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth HR operations.
- Strong HR system knowledge to effectuate changes in compliance with HR laws and regulations, while ensuring compatibility with existing organizational systems and processes.
Generalist HR Duties:
- Assistance with all other functional areas within the HR department, to include compliance, training, benefits, leave administration, time and attendance, and payroll.
ADDITIONAL/NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES
All other duties as assigned.
All remaining duties are considered "nonessential" within the context of the ADA, which means that the function could be reassigned to another employee in order to allow a disabled individual to hold the position. Alternatively, the manager could try to provide a reasonable accommodation so that the disabled individual could perform the function.

EDUCATION
Required Education:
Bachelor's in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
Preferred Education:
Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
Preferred: SHRM or HRCI
EXPERIENCE
Required:
Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated track record of progressive, professional work experience
Experience with HRIS software
Experience using the Google suite of enterprise software
Preferred:
3 years of experience in Human Resources
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Required:

Proficiency in HRIS systems (Paycom experience a plus)
Full knowledge of all functional areas of HR

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with seasonal extra hours
TRAINING
All new hires and employees transferring into a new position will have a 90-day probationary period within which to learn the functions of the job and to be evaluated. Following the probationary period, the employee can transition to regular status, have the probationary period extended in order to receive more training, or employment can be terminated. SAFETY
- SEU promotes a safe working environment. Employees are responsible for completing assigned tasks safely and efficiently, and supervisors are responsible for creating and maintaining a safe work environment.
- Employees must report any unsafe work conditions or practices, as well as any near-miss incidents, to their supervisor and Risk Management.
- Work-related injuries must be immediately reported to Security and Human Resources. When life or limb are at risk, please dial 911. Supervisors and employees should ensure that injury/accident reports are submitted to the Office of Human Resources within 24 hours of the incident.

SCREENING
All full-time positions at SEU are deemed security-sensitive and require background checks. Employees required to drive their own personal vehicle, a rental car or an SEU vehicle in performance of their duties must pass an MVR records check and meet the requirements of the Universitys insurance carrier in order to meet the requirements of the position.
