What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adjunct Faculty - Applied Technology (Construction) position at Southern Adventist University?
Job Summary : The adjunct faculty member in the construction management program will instruct students in a course and any associated lab(s) that align with individual expertise and experience. These courses are to encompass the theoretical and hands-on aspects of residential and commercial construction and related processes. Courses in the program include but are not limited to construction safety, plumbing, electrical, drywall and finishes, masonry and concrete, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, residential building codes, estimating, contract administration, introduction to architectural drawing, and 3-D modeling. Courses in the construction management program.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Respects and upholds university values
- Demonstrates behavior congruent to these values with students in classrooms and lab spaces; and with campus colleagues
- Implements and upholds university and departmental policies in the classroom
- Prepares instructional materials and instructs students in selected construction courses
- Develops and / or selects appropriate instructional materials for selected assigned courses
- Performs duties associated with instructing and assessing student progress in a timely way. These include but are not limited to grading and required record keeping according to university guidelines
- Teaches day and / or evening classes / labs as available (in consultation with the chair)
- Stays current in the construction field and various trade skills
