What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Technician/Assistant position at Southern Alliance Spay Neuter Clinic?
We are looking to fill an immediate position of a veterinary technician or veterinary assistant. Job experience is preferred. We are a well-established nonprofit high volume spay/neuter clinic in Fayetteville, TN. We are looking for someone who is hard working, eager to learn, works well with our veterinary team, and has a great enthusiasm for saving lives through prevention of unwanted puppies and kittens. Prior experience is a plus, as we need to fill this position immediately and would like for someone to start off with a good knowledge base and hands-on experience with the majority of the job responsibilities.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
-Assisting doctors in surgery and exam rooms
-Prepping patients for surgery, monitoring their vitals and anesthesia
-Proper animal restraint and handling
-Obtaining blood and other samples for diagnostic testing
-Drawing up vaccines and injectable medications
-Administration of medications or fluids under doctor supervision
-Preparing medications for patients
-Controlled drug log responsibilities
-Communicating with and educating clients
-Answering phone and setting up appointments if needed
-Helping to maintain a clean work environment including kennel area
-Working cohesively with veterinary team
-Lifting heavy animals
Clinic hours are 7:00-5:00 Tuesday-Wednesday and Thursday 8:00-12:00.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $10.00 - $12.00 per hour
Expected hours: 34 per week
