Job Summary
The Accounting Clerk I has primary responsibility for timely and accurate payment of invoices for Southern Bancorp and its subsidiary and affiliate companies
Responsibilities
- Pay all invoices in a timely and accurate manner for Southern and all its subsidiary and affiliated companies
- Update vendor information and scan all relative documents into the AP system. Contact vendors for updated information as needed.
- Ensure that all disbursement and payments are properly authorized and comply with appropriate policies and procedures
- Backup AP Supervisor when necessary with coding invoice, verifying approvals, and handling all related AP issues.
- Balance various end of the month general ledger accounts.
- Perform other accounting duties as required by the Accounts Payable Supervisor and or Accounting Manager
- Complete all required or assigned training.
- Perform other tasks as required by supervisor as they pertain to Southern and its mission.
- High School diploma or equivalent is required along with two years of bank operations experience; or an equivalent combination of education and/or work experience
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and 10 Key calculator
- Aptitude for problem solving
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Strong computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office products
- Excellent reasoning skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Minimum of one to three years in accounting positions with a general knowledge of accounting systems and control functions
