Role Summary:
Responsible for soliciting new commercial and individual lending and deposit relationships from prospective customers and expanding existing relationships in accordance with the long range goals of the Bank. Properly underwrites, negotiates, structures and arranges the closing of consumer, commercial and residential loans. Effectively manages a sound portfolio of high quality loans. In addition, may also function as assistant branch manager and manage the branch in the absence of the manager.
Specific Job Functions (Duties/Responsibilities):
- Identify potential customers, initiate contacts and obtain appointments to establish new relationships.
- Solicit and approve loans within assigned authority, and present recommendations to appropriate authority for higher amounts.
- Insure all loans made or rejected comply with laws and regulations.
- Administer rates fairly and price according to bank policy for risk and credit quality.
- Cross sell additional Bank products to loan customers.
- Proactively manage loan portfolio to ensure a minimum of delinquencies, substandard loans and documentation exceptions.
- Anticipate maturities, obtain financials and renew loans on time.
- Underwrite and assist with loan applications accepted by the Branch Manager.
- In absence of Branch Manager may supervise assigned branch staff and address branch issues.
- Work closely with Branch Manager to meet the set goals of their assigned Branch.
- Refer loans, when appropriate, to other lenders.
- Make regular business development calls to solicit new business or referrals and improve services to existing clients.
- Introduce Clients to other Bank business service specialists as needed to fully meet client needs.
- Improve community awareness of the Bank. Participate in community activities to increase the Bank’s visibility and to generate new business opportunities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge/skills/Abilities Required:
- Proven ability to conduct productive business development calls.
- Experience in originating, underwriting and documenting; consumer loans, small business loans; mortgage loans and leases.
- Thorough knowledge of all Bank commercial and retail products and services. A complete knowledge of Bank lending policy.
- Knowledge of retail branch operations (teller and customer service).
- Experience working with past due loans.
- Ability to work with limited supervision.
- Knowledge of deposit and lending laws and regulations.
- Ability to sell and refer Bank products and services.
- The ability to organize and schedule daily appointments.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, while maintaining good customer and staff relations.
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor degree in Finance or related field.
- Exposure to consumer and small business lending.
- Five years experience within a financial organization to gain the necessary experience and background knowledge to perform the duties and responsibilities listed above.
