JOB SUMMARY:
This position provides leadership, supervision, priority and direction to a team of Remote Operations Center (ROC) Operators for a 247 operations center located in Birmingham, AL. This position is responsible and accountable for the remote monitoring and operating of the Southern Power Company (SPC) fleet of Wind and Solar generation assets along with Energy Storage assets located across the country. The ROC Supervisor is responsible for maintaining the 247 shift schedule as well as managing the day-to-day real-time obligations of the SPC ROC.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills )
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- 3 years of direct ROC experience, preferred
- 5 years of power generation or transmission related experience, required
- Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering, highly preferred; 4 year college degree, preferred
- Knowledge of power plant operations & maintenance, required
- Knowledge of renewable generation, specifically wind, solar, and battery energy storage, required
- Ability to manage people
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with other organizations
- Experience in organizing and managing multiple simultaneous projects
- Proven interpersonal and communication skills
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
- Working knowledge of OSIsoft PI, Maximo, Tableau, Power BI, SCADA systems (Ignition, WPS, VOB, RTAC Controllers, PLC logic controllers, etc.) and Microsoft Office
- Comprehensive knowledge of plant operations including, alarm management, curtailment, voltage control, outage notifications and reporting as well as emergency action procedures.
- Working knowledge of; Power Purchase Agreements (PPA), Generation Interconnection agreements (GIA) , and NERC GO/GOP standards, NERC CIP requirements
- Ability to produce business cases to justify financial investment decisions, technology tools / upgrades, etc.

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performance management and employee development and training
- Provide leadership in the operation and development of the SPC ROC
- Incorporate lessons learned, best practices, technology, and feedback in the daily operation and refinement of the ROC Team (people, process, technology)
- Establish and maintain ongoing relationships with all levels of plant and support employees
- Responsible for managing the ROC Real-Time Floor budget, including the accounting of overtime, travel, training, software license, technology development, etc.
- Communicate the SPC ROC performance and status to appropriate audiences. (ROC Manager, Solar & Wind General Managers, Site Managers)

Total travel time will be no more than 25%.
