Position Summary:
The Custodian at Southern Components, Inc. is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized environment across both the office and plant facilities. This role involves performing routine cleaning tasks, addressing facility maintenance needs, and ensuring that the workspaces meet health and safety standards. The Custodian will split their time between the office and the plant, adapting to the unique requirements of each area.
Primary Responsibilities:
Office Responsibilities (50% of time) 6:00 A.M – 10:00 A.M
· Clean and sanitize all office areas, including workspaces, conference rooms, restrooms, kitchens, and common areas.
· Empty trash and recycling bins regularly, ensuring waste is disposed of properly.
· Dust and wipe down surfaces such as desks, chairs, counters, and office equipment.
· Clean and disinfect restrooms, replenish soap, paper towels, and other supplies as needed.
· Vacuum carpets, sweep, and mop hard flooring as required.
· Keep kitchen and breakroom areas clean, including wiping counters, cleaning appliances, and restocking supplies.
· Ensure that all office areas are tidy and presentable for employees and visitors.
Plant Responsibilities (50% of time) 10:00 A.M – 2:30 P.M
· Clean and maintain production areas, including sweeping and organizing workstations.
· Empty trash and recycling bins in the plant and ensure proper waste disposal procedures are followed.
· Clean and organize break areas and restrooms within the plant.
· Clean equipment surfaces and wipe down workbenches and common use tools as needed.
· Safely clean floors and other surfaces in high-traffic areas to maintain a safe working environment.
· Respond to immediate facility cleaning requests in the plant, such as spills or debris removal, to ensure safety standards are met.
· Assist in stocking and replenishing janitorial supplies for the plant area and restrooms.
· Notify the Plant Manager or nearest member of management of any repairs or maintenance needs.
Additional Duties:
· Report any safety hazards or facility concerns to the Plant Manager or nearest member of management immediately.
· Ensure cleaning products and equipment are stored properly and safely.
· Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and health standards.
· Perform other related duties as assigned by the Plant Manager or other members of management.
Required Qualifications:
· Ability to operate basic cleaning equipment (vacuum cleaners, mops, etc.).
· Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safe use of cleaning supplies.
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean work environment.
· Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks between the office and the plant.
· Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
· Physically able to stand, walk, and lift up to 25 lbs for extended periods.
Work Environment:
· The custodian will split their time between the office environment (indoor, climate-controlled) and the plant environment (industrial, will involve exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures).
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour
