What are the responsibilities and job description for the Grief Counselor position at Southern Grace Hospice?
Essential Functions
Responsible for overall management of the hospices bereavement program. Responsibilities include the planning, implementation, maintenance and provision of services necessary to patients, identified caregivers, hospice staff, and the community at large. Southern Grace Hospices bereavement services extend for the time period of the patient’s admission to hospice services until at least thirteen months after the death of the patient.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, related field or pastoral education with documented evidence of training and experience in grief therapy and bereavement counseling.
- Three years’ experience in family and/or individual counseling with additional training in grief and bereavement preferred.
- Knowledge of grief and bereavement counseling; understanding of physical, psychosocial and spiritual needs of terminally ill patients and their caregivers.
- Documented training in Grief and Bereavement counseling is required.
- Must be familiar with general use and functions of the computer, such as, user names and password concepts; internet; e-mail; navigation of computer desktop, including starting programs, using files, and windows, effectively use navigation buttons and tool bars; ability to self-manage online HR services and online training programs.
- One-year experience in home health care or hospice preferred.
