Position Summary

SGS & Co is seeking an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in highly regulated industries—including, but not limited to, tobacco, gravure, and other compliance-driven sectors. This role is crucial in managing key accounts and ensuring the seamless execution of packaging artwork production under strict regulatory and quality requirements.

As a critical link within the supply chain, you will collaborate closely with clients, design firms, printers, and internal teams to ensure packaging meets all printability and compliance standards. Your expertise will help maintain and enhance SGS & Co’s reputation for delivering high-quality, regulation-compliant packaging solutions on time and with precision.

This role is ideally based near Winston-Salem, North Carolina, allowing for a mix of on-site and remote work. However, a hybrid arrangement may be considered for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

• Industry Expertise: Strong understanding of highly regulated product packaging, including tobacco and other compliance-heavy industries, ensuring adherence to all legal and quality standards.
• Print & Production Knowledge: Deep expertise in gravure printing, corrugated manufacturing, and press specifications to ensure accurate execution.
• Regulatory Compliance: Work closely with internal teams and clients to navigate and comply with industry regulations, ensuring all packaging artwork aligns with strict guidelines.
• Project Management: Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, managing tight deadlines and ensuring flawless execution from concept to production.
• Client & Stakeholder Communication: Act as a trusted liaison between clients, design, on-site personnel, and printers, ensuring clarity on specifications, timelines, and deliverables.
• Process Improvement: Participate in workflow optimization to enhance efficiency and maintain compliance with evolving regulations.
• Issue Resolution: Identify and proactively address any packaging or artwork concerns, working closely with clients and production teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently.
• Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed records of artwork approvals, regulatory compliance requirements, and project milestones.
• Training & Mentorship: Provide guidance and training to junior Project Managers as needed.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Industry Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a highly regulated packaging or printing environment, such as tobacco, pharmaceuticals, or alcohol industries.
• Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of gravure printing, corrugated packaging, and pre-press execution.
• Regulatory Expertise: Familiarity with industry-specific legal requirements and the ability to adapt to evolving regulations.
• Project Management Skills: Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects with strict deadlines and high compliance standards.
• Client-Focused Mindset: Exceptional ability to communicate with clients and internal teams, ensuring alignment on goals and deliverables.
• Attention to Detail: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify potential risks and ensure flawless execution.
• Hybrid Work Flexibility: Ability to work both on-site and remotely as needed.

Educational & Experience Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in project management, packaging, printing, or a related field.
• 5 years’ project management experience preferred in a highly regulated industry
• Experience in the design, print or production art industry with a strong understanding of gravure printing, corrugated packaging, and pre-press execution.
• Full comprehension in reading work instructions and business memos
• Highly effective communication skills
• Proofreading skills required
• Ability to work independently

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The U.S. pay range for this position is $52,000 - $75,000 annually. Ultimately, in determining pay, we will consider the successful candidate’s location, experience, and other job-related factors.

Experience

• Experience in the design, print or production art industry with a strong understanding of gravure printing, corrugated packaging, and pre-press execution
