Position Summary
- Responsible for directing and coordinating staff and patient care services.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
Licenses and Certification
- Illinois Registered Nurse Professional License
- BLS
- ACLS, NRP, PALS, ENPC, TNCC, TNS if applicable
Experience and Skills
- Technical Experience – 3 years clinical in related field
- Supervisory Experience – 1 year
Role Specific Responsibilities
- Plans and implements programs to support positive patient outcomes.
- Serves as a liaison with the Medical Staff.
- Evaluates effectiveness of unit based clinical programs related to delivery of care and clinical practice.
- Assist in preparation for JCAHO, IDPH, IPT and other regulatory agency surveys.
- Monitors and responds to patient/family/physician expectations.
RN Float Manager Responsibilities:
Staffing and scheduling:
- Coordinate staffing assignments for float pool staff based on anticipated staffing needs across various units.
- Create, manage, balance and oversee employee schedules in collaboration with department managers.
- Monitor staff availability, skills and preferences to ensure efficient and effective deployment.
- Recruitment and on-boarding:
- Collaborate with Talent Acquisition to recruit, interview and select candidates for the float pool.
- Develop and implement orientation and training programs to ensure float pool staff are prepared to work in different units in collaboration with Nursing Professional
Development Staffing and scheduling:
- Employee Management and Development:
- Conduct regular unit/staff meetings
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback
- Identify opportunities for professional development and training for float pool staff.
- Address any employee performance or behavioral issues as needed, provide coaching and support
- Round on staff regularly Staffing and scheduling
Operational Management:
- Track and report on staffing key performance indicators
- Ensue compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations in all staffing and patient care activities
- Develop and implement strategies for optimizing staffing and addressing gaps in coverage.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Act as a liaison between float pool and staff , department leaders, and house supervisors, ensuring effective communication and smooth integration
- Participate in meetings and contribute to strategic planning initiatives related to staffing and workforce managementQuality Assurance and Improvement:
- Ensure all float pool staff adhere to the highest standard of patient care, quality, and safety.
- Implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the float pool
- Participate on hospital and system level committees to enhance quality, safety and patient care
Compensation (Commensurate with experience):
