The National Corn-to-Ethanol Research Center (NCERC) is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Associate Research Director to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will work closely with industry leaders, trade associations, academic institutions, and government partners to identify critical needs within the renewable fuels and bioproducts sectors.
You will play a key role in generating innovative ideas and executing projects that have a meaningful impact. As the Associate Research Director, you'll also be responsible for securing grant funding to expand and diversify NCERC’s research portfolio, ensuring we stay at the forefront of groundbreaking research.
Your leadership will be crucial in providing technical guidance for both client and research projects, helping to train and mentor junior scientists as they execute these projects. By doing so, you'll help foster a strong, collaborative team while also advancing NCERC’s goals of financial growth, research excellence, and technical credibility.
What You Will Do:
- Collaborate with industry, trade associations, academic, and government partners to identify key challenges and opportunities in the renewable fuels and bioproducts industries.
- Develop and lead exciting new projects to address industry needs and support sustainable innovation.
- Apply for grants to expand and diversify the NCERC research portfolio, bringing new technical areas and collaborators into the fold.
- Lead and support both client and research projects, providing technical guidance and troubleshooting expertise.
- Write Statements of Work for contractual projects and prepare detailed project reports.
- Mentor and train junior research scientists, helping them build their skills and contribute to the success of the team.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
- Ph.D. in chemistry, biology or engineering related to the science and technology of biofuels and bioproducts similar field with a minimum of 10 years experience.
- Strong technical skills, demonstrated experience in interacting with clients and commercial service; strong writing and oral skills, and exceptional organizational and management skills.
