Overview

Are you interested in providing daily cleaning and custodial services to all academic and administrative departments on the SIUE campus?

The Facilities Management Department at SIUE is seeking applicants for Building Service Workers that are trained professionals who use modern cleaning equipment and techniques to ensure that the campus is clean, safe, and healthy.

What You Will Do

· General cleaning, floor treatment, refuse disposal, recycling collection, event setup, pest control, and other related functions

· Work in coordination with other departments to ensure that all areas of the campus are clean and well-maintained

· Responsible for maintaining inventory levels of cleaning supplies and equipment

· Required to follow safety protocols and use personal protective equipment when necessary

· Empty and clean trash and waste receptacles and assist in trash removal coverage of other areas of the buildings when alone or during periods of low staff

· Dust, mop, sweep and scrub floors and other surfaces including tables and windows, clean carpet, and furniture with and without power equipment as needed

· Move furniture, supplies and equipment to and from areas as directed

· Communicate with supervisors in-person, via email, phone, and radio regarding the direction of work and schedule for floor cleaning

This is a Union represented position that receives negotiated wage increases:

0-6 Months: $15.81

6 Months to 2 Year: $16.32

2 Years - 3 Years: $17.34

3 Years - 4 Years: $18.36

4 Years - 10 Years: $19.89

10 Years - 15 Years: $21.17

15 Years: $21.93

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

1. High school diploma or equivalent.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

1. Knowledge of cleaning solutions and custodial methods.

2. Ability to comprehend and follow oral instructions.

Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System, candidates must be a current Illinois resident.
