Are you ready to play a crucial role in supporting the financial aid office by assisting with data analysis, reporting, and technical support?
The Department of Student Financial Aid at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Information Technology Technical Associate (ITTA) to join our team to directly contribute to the effective administration of financial aid and student retention efforts.

What You Will Do
- Reporting and Data Analysis: Collaborate with the existing ITTA to create and refine reports using SQL, Argos, and Power BI tools.
- Daily Operations: Handle daily file transfers, duplicate ID reconciliation, batch posting of awards, and generation of SAP reports.
- Backlog Management: Assist in alleviating the current ITTA’s backlog of duties, enabling a more efficient data collection process for informed decision-making regarding aid administration and student retention.
- Program Support: Support the financial aid office in meeting the demands of federal campus-based programs and coordinating with other federal and state financial aid programs.
- Technical Assistance: Provide support for technical issues related to software and office equipment. Test and implement newly released software patches.
- Compliance and Reporting: Facilitate the transfer of financial aid materials to and from the Department of Education, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Communication: Interact with key campus administrators to streamline financial aid processes while adhering to federal and state regulations, as well as university policies.
- Documentation and Problem Solving: Maintain comprehensive documentation, perform detailed data analysis, and solve technical issues as they arise.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
1. Any combination totaling six years from the following categories:
a. progressively more responsible work experience in IT-related profession
b. college course work with a concentration in Information Technology (IT), IT Management, or a closely related discipline, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
-30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
-Associate’s Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)
-90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
-Bachelor’s Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)
Required: Two years of hands on development experience in SQL and/or Oracle platforms. The ability to utilize business intelligence tools to provide data analysis for functional teams and customers. Must have experience working through, design, build, testing and implementing large IT projects. Experience in identifying system needs, preparing system requirements, evaluating vendor software, preparing systems related documentation and training end user staff.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
2 years of direct Financial Aid experience working in a University Financial Aid office
5 years of SQL development experience

Illinois Residency Requirement: Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System, out-of-state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of the start date for this position. Illinois residency requires proof of a valid Illinois Driver’s License or state of Illinois ID Card. Failure to produce the required documentation within 180 calendar days will result in immediate termination of employment.
